Carina Nebula: Cosmic Cliffs in Deep Space
August 2026•© NASA / ESA / CSA / STScI
Captured by the James Webb Space Telescope's Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam), these towering cosmic cliffs reveal previously invisible areas of star birth in the Carina Nebula (NGC 3324). Ultraviolet radiation and stellar winds from massive young stars have sculpted a cavernous wall of ionized gas and hot dust spanning several light-years across the interstellar cosmos.
